U9 White Division v Coolboy on Sunday 15/09/13 An outstanding performance from the Ashford U9A team against Coolboy on Sunday their first match of the 2013/14 season. Ashford in true form fielded an attacking side with Karl Drummond and Louis Malcolmson in defence, Fionn Doyle in Goals, Joshua Bishop, Luke Fitzpatrick and Adam Daly in control of midfield with Sam Greene and Oscar Malcolmson forming a new Striker partnership. Ashford kicked off the game attacking immediately putting the Coolboy defence under immediate pressure. With Coolboy on the backfoot, Ashford attacked wave after wave combing strong passing from the midfield from Adam Daly and Luke Fitzpatrick. Joshua Bishop ruled the left side of the pitch connecting goal bound some pin point cross’s from the right to really test the Coolboy goalkeeper who already after ten minutes was a contender for man of the match With all the Coolboy players defending the box and clearing their lines, the ball was constantly returned from the safe left foot of Louis Malcolmson from Ashford to again put the pressure back on. Adam Daly took control of the ball, passed it to Sam Greene who passed it through to Joshua Bishop who drove home a low and hard shot into the bottom right corner, 1-0 to Ashford. Coolboy kicked off again and Ashford immediatley stole the ball and once again were denied by the Coolboy Keeper, on kickout Louis Malcolmson met the shot with a strong left foot that bounced over the Coolboy defence to meet the right foot of Sam Greene who calmly slotted home into the Coolboy net, 2-0 to Ashford. Immediately after kick off Adam Daly connected to a loose ball from Coolboys clearance with a storming right foot that just hit the side netting. Mathew Collins then entered the game and took charge in midfield showing his strength on the ball to slot through some accurate passes to the Strikers. Coolboy gathered in the last few minutes of the first half and had some strong chances forcing two consecutive corners but once again some strong defending from Karl Drummond and commanding goalkeeping from Fionn Doyle denied them any opportunities. Defence immediately turned to attack for Ashford in the closing minutes of the first half when once again Joshua Bishop, Luke Fitzpatrick and Mathew Collins were denied by the Coolboy keeper. After a well-earned rest, Ashford tipped off and continued where they left off, attack after attack with some outstanding runs and footwork from Oscar Malcolmson down the left side of midfield supplied the ammunition into Joshua Bishop and Sam Greene, once again Sam Greene capitalised on some confusion in the Coolboy box to calmly slot home a low ball into the right corner to make it 3-0 to Ashford. Coolboy again rallied but were quickly denied by Fionn Doyle, Karl Drummond and Adam Daly now in defence. The midfield combination now of Louis Malcolmson, Mathew Collins and Luke Fitzpatrick combined with some slinky passes to cut through Coolboy and pass to Joshua Bishop, his shot firmly saved by the keeper rebounded to Luke Fitzpatrick who hit a thundering shot past the keeper to make it 4-0. The second half continued on with again some heroic saves from the Coolboy keeper when with 5 minutes to go again a scrambled clearance in the Coolboy defence dropped to Sam Greene who picked his spot carefully, grabbing a well-earned hat-trick to make it 5-0 to Ashford. In the second half Oscar Malcolmson took up the reign in Goals and Louis Malcolmson started in midfield. Sticking to their plan Ashford kicked off and within minutes Michael Cash hit an explosive left foot outside the box to make it 2-1 to Ashford, a few minutes later Joshua Bishop was fouled just outside the box and converted an outstanding free kick into the top corner of the net to make it 3-1 to Ashford.
